East Jakarta Won Child-Friendly City Award

The Women Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry crowned East Jakarta as Child-Friendly City (KLA). The trophy was given directly by President Joko Widodo in Bogor Palace, Tuesday (8/11). There are 78 other cities also won a similar award.

Although the program has been running since 2011, East Jakarta became the only and the first city in Jakarta which won KLA award. Furthermore, East Jakarta newly designated for KLA implementation in 2013 after Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and South Jakarta in 2011.

East Jakarta Mayor, Bambang Musyawardhana said, this achievement is the result of struggle and hard work of all provincial working unit (SKPD) which united in KLA working team and East Jakarta residents.

This Year, 9 RPTRAs in Cakung Built

"I'm very proud of it. Thanks for the governor who initiated RPTRA (child-friendly park) as facilities, playground and education place for the children," told Musyawardhana.

He uttered, the area was chosen because it has programs that promote children's fundamental rights as citizens, as contained in five parts, namely civil rights and freedoms, family environment and alternative care, basic health and welfare, education, use of leisure time and cultural activities, as well as special protection.

"We provides free birth certificate program for children through East Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Sub-Department (Dukcapil), adding number of Toddlers Family Building and Early Childhood Education, increasing number of lactation room in entire sub-district and urban village environment, and give protection and support for children with special need in social houses," Musyawardhana disclosed.
